Bemvindo a casa

Mike's folks came back from portugal on wednesday. They have been over there or the past 2 and a half weeks, sorting out the sale of some of their property there, and having a bit of a break. Seeing as our family has a reputation of airport welcomes, I felt that I had to do something, but, unfortunately they arrived back at 9 in the morning. The best I could organise was this nifty sign and some flowers (my portuguese translator did mess me about tho', you may notice a very out of place pink "n"...tsk)

My Laights

Last birthday my Mom gave me a string of fairy lights. Now, I'm *obsessed* with fairy light... I love them. It's quite sad actualy. Anyhoo, these lights were especially special - they had teeny little chinese lanterns on them! Now, as fabulous as that is, what the hell do you do with them!? I mean, a christmas tree covered in white chinese lanterns looks pretty naff. So, I have created light art. Yes, light art. I scoured the wall for a nail, then draped my fairy lights on it. Sounds spazz, but looks awesome!

He wrote my name in the stars...

Now that I've introduced you to Michael (the notorious Mr V) I think I may enlighten you as to how we met...on the internet! LOL Yep, we were both trawling dating sites for kicks and stumbled upon each other. I most definitely wasn't looking for a relationship, and nor was he really. But, 2 and a half years later we are both *very* happy. Serendipity, is it?

We got engaged on the 8th July 2006...and this is how it happened...

Mike and a friend of his, Clyde, decided that we should all go to the Planetarium sometime, seeing as they hadn't been there since they were kids. So, Mike organised that a whole bunch of friends and family (incl Mike's folks) go to the show on a Saturday. The day arrived, and was an absolute mad rush! I had friends out from the US, so had to take them to the airport, then had to rush back home before going to the Planetarium. But, I managed. LOL
The show was actually really good, I enjoyed slouching in my seat, craning my neck to see the ceiling of stars! LOL Towards the end of the show, Dr Claire Flannagan (the narrator and star specialist) said that as the show ended they would play out with some "heavenly" music and show us what tonight's sky would look like.... now, you know how you *know* what your name looks like? I mean, if someeone wrote your name down on a piece of paper, and you glanced at it, you would recognise it... right?! Anyway, I'm slouching in my seat, checking out the stars, when there up on the ceiling, I see a word I recognise....
It says "Liezl" there... what?! "will"... "you".... "marry".... "me, Liezl?"
OHMIGOSH!!! I loook at Mike, then back at the ceiling, then at Mike again (all this while my jaw is dropped and my mouth is open like a goldfish) In a blur of my tears, Mike's struggling to get on one knee between the rows of seats, I'm already saying "yes" before he's officially asked (LOL).... *sigh* It was so romantic. Just like a movie. It was WONDERFUL!
Needless to say I was a whirl of emotions for the rest of the day, and surprising quiet. Shocked into silence I think! LOL

So, below you'll see the slide Mike organised to be slotted into the slide show, berry schneaky hey? :0) I've also posted the postcard he bought me... aaaaawwwww

Anyhow, after reading various other people's blogs (especially those focusing on weddings) I decided to see what all the fuss was about, and start my very own...
